Councillor Little was born at the Ottawa Civic Hospital and grew up in Wesboro, where he attended Broadview Public School and Nepean High School. He obtained a diploma in the Health sciences field from Humber College of Applied Arts & Technology in 1985; a certificate in the teaching of English as a Second Language in 1991; has completed professional courses in the field of marketing and international trade; and obtained a bachelor's degree in History and Political Science from Carleton University in 1994.
Over the years Mr. Little has been involved in a variety of community-based organizations such as the Community Youth Forum; the Humane Society of Ottawa-Carleton; the Ottawa Board of Education Central Alumni Choir; the Capital City Chorus; NEWSWEST; the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and guide dog program; the Association of Young Political Leaders; the Humber College student newspaper and Students' Association Council; the Charlatan; CKCU-FM; community theatre; neighbourhood watch; and the scouting movement, just to name a few.
In recent years, Mr. Little re-started and was the president of the Westboro Community Association; the Vice-Chair of the NEWSWEST Board of Directors; the Co-Chair of the Communities Before Cars Coalition; a member of the City of Ottawa Taxi Advisory Committee; a Director for the Abbeyfield Houses Society for Seniors; a member of the Public Advisory Committee on the Champlain Bridge Environmental Assessment Study; and a member of the Steering Committee for the Island Park, Kirkwood, Churchill and Area Traffic Calming Study.
At present, Councillor Little is President of the Wesboro Kiwanis Club; a member of Wesboro United Church; and the Ottawa area member of the Ontario Film Review Board.
