Disease in Ottawa, 2011: Knowledge
to Action Report and the June
2011 Monthly Communicable Disease Report for information.
Que le Conseil de santé de la
circonscription sanitaire de la ville d’Ottawa prenne connaissance du

The Ontario Public Health Standards require Ottawa Public Health (OPH) to ensure that the Board of Health is aware of and uses epidemiological data to inform the development of healthy public policy, programs and services. In June 2011, the reporting schedule of epidemiological reports to the Board was approved (ACS2011-OPH-IQS-0002).
The purpose of this report is to provide the Board with two epidemiological reports (Enteric Disease in Ottawa, 2011 and June 2011 Monthly Reportable Disease Report) and a Knowledge to Action Report (The Enteric Disease in Ottawa, 2011: Knowledge to Action Report).
Enteric Disease in Ottawa,
2011
The Enteric Disease in Ottawa,
2011 report provides data on 15 reportable enteric diseases affecting
children, adults and seniors in Ottawa. The Enteric Disease in Ottawa, 2011: Knowledge
to Action Report provides
information for community partners highlighting key findings from Enteric Disease in Ottawa, 2011 and an overview of OPH’s role related to management of enteric diseases. OPH’s main role is to investigate reportable cases of
infectious disease, managing cases, correcting deficiencies, and identifying
symptomatic contacts of cases.
June 2011 Monthly Reportable Disease Report
The June 2011 Monthly Reportable Disease Report presents current available
data for reportable communicable diseases for the City of Ottawa. The reports
highlight increased reported cases of HIV, Chlamydia, Invasive Group
A Streptococcal Infections, and Influenza, which are addressed through OPH’s infectious
control programs and OPH’s Sexual Health Strategy (ACS2011-OPH-CP-0002).
Ottawa Public Health will inform health care providers and community partners of pertinent local epidemiological information.
There are no legal implications related to this report.
