REPORT RECOMMENDATION
That the Corporate Services
and Economic Development Committee recommend Council approve the appointment of
Larry Hartman, Derrick Thompson and Michel Parent to the Bank Street Business
Improvement Area Board of Management for the term expiring November 30,
2010.

au Conseil municipal d’approuver la nomination de Larry Hartman, Derrick
Thompson et Michel Parent au Conseil de gestion de la Zone d’amélioration
commerciale de la rue Bank pour un mandat prenant fin le 30 novembre 2010.
Section 204 of the Municipal Act,
2001 requires that the municipality appoint Business Improvement Area (BIA)
Board members.
According to its by-law (By-law No.
250-83), the Bank Street Business Improvement Area Board of Management is
entitled to “eleven (11) members appointed by Council, two of whom shall be
members of Council”.
At its 14 December 2006 meeting,
City Council appointed Councillor Diane Holmes as its representative on the
Bank Street Business Improvement Area Board of Management and at its 23 May
2007 meeting, Council approved the appointment of seven (7) business members to
the Bank Street BIA Board of Management, those members being Mel Hartman, Bill
Joe, Steven Tanner, Jacie Levinson, Ken Ginn, Brian Roberts and Rock Falardeau.
Through correspondence dated 29 September 2008, the Bank Street BIA advised of the resignation of Ken Ginn and Rock Falardeau and requested that Council appoint Larry Hartman, Derrick Thompson and Michel Parent, replacing the departing members and increasing the Board’s membership from eight (seven business members and one member of Council) to nine (eight business members and one member of Council).
The newly appointed members will serve the balance of the term, expiring on November 30, 2010.
Consultation or recruitment of
members is undertaken by the BIA. This
is an administrative matter completed on behalf of the BIA, therefore public
consultation is not required.
There are no financial implications
related to this report.
