That Council approve:
1. That City staff be directed to provide a complete list of vehicle classes managed by fleet services that includes:

& division that utilizes the vehicles,

age & estimated lifetime,
·

average annual operating cost.
2. That
City staff identify initiatives to improve operational performance and reduce
lifecycle costs.

On
3 September 2008, Councillor Leadman put forward the following Notice of
Motion:
WHEREAS the
City must achieve $100M in efficiencies in addition to significant budgetary
pressures for 2009 and into the future;
AND WHEREAS
tue to Fleet Services recent re-organization with all transit operations
transferred, the branch has significantly narrowed its scope;

THEREFORE
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT City staff be directed to report on the
reliability, need and savings for each make and model currently operated by the
City.
THEREFORE
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT no outside consultants and resources be retained to
fulfill this motion.
Note: In consultation with staff following the
meeting, the Councillor modified the original text of the Motion and the
revised text is reflected in the Recommendation on the first page of this
report.
Fleet Services
With approval of the Motion, Municipal Fleet Services
Branch will compile the requested information and forward to Councillors
through a memorandum.
No financial implications.
Staff to take appropriate action as directed by the Committee.
