Police or Criminal Records Check

Applicants are advised that a Police or Criminal Records Check may be required prior to being hired into a summer student job. If a Police or Criminal Records Check is required for summer a summer student job, this information will be included on the Job Posting.

All positions in Parks, Recreation and Culture, Arts and Heritage require a Police Records Check on, or before, the first day of employment. It is highly recommended that applicant’s who intend to pursue a position in these areas, apply for the ‘Express Surcharge’ provided by Ottawa Police Services in order to ensure they obtain their Police Records Check prior to employment.

Documents required prior to being hired

A photocopy of the following documents will be required upon request:

  • proof of age;
  • proof of student status (transcript);
  • void cheque or a bank validated deposit slip (original documents required);
  • proof of certification/qualifications as outlined in the job posting;
  • proof of a valid Class G Driver’s License as outlined in the job posting; and
  • Social Insurance Card.

Note: Direct deposit is mandatory for all students.
