Open House - Bank Street Reconstruction
Somerset Street to Arlington Avenue

The City of Ottawa invites you to attend an Open House to review the plans for the proposed reconstruction of Bank Street, between Somerset Street and Arlington Avenue planned for 2009 in the City of Ottawa.

The City of Ottawa has undertaken the next phase of the detailed design of Bank Street from Somerset Street to Arlington Avenue and intends to undertake the construction between April and November 2009. Specifically, the work proposed includes:

  • Rehabilitation/replacement of the asphalt pavement;
  • Replacement of combined sewers;
  • Construction of a new watermain;
  • Replacement of the existing sidewalks with new concrete sidewalks along the east and west side of the street;
  • New streetlighting on both sides of Bank Street;
  • Replacement traffic control signals; and
  • Streetscaping elements that include tree planting, waste receptacles, benches, bicycle racks, and hard surface features.

Using the 20/20 Downtown Urban Design Strategy as a basis and the preliminary design, developed as part of the Environmental Assessment, the City has developed the detailed design, traffic management strategy and streetscape plan.
