Phase 3 - Construction from Somerset to Arlington (2009) Project Overview Bank Street - Laurier Avenue West to Highway 417 Detailed Design & Tender Documents The Construction Services West Division has initiated a Detailed Design assignment to rehabilitate Bank Street between Laurier Avenue West and Highway 417. This project received environmental clearance through the completion of an Environmental Study Report in 2006, (Bank Street Rehabilitation – Rideau Canal to Wellington Street, Environmental Study Report, March 2006). The first phase of construction, started in 2006 between Wellington Street and Laurier Avenue West, was completed in 2007. The second phase of construction started this year (2008), between Laurier Avenue West and Somerset Street, will be completed in Spring 2009. The third phase of construction slated for 2009 is proposed to extend from the south side of Somerset Street to mid-block between Arlington Avenue and Catherine Street. A Public Art competition was coordinated and is being implemented as part of the overall project. The project will be designed and constructed in three phases between Wellington St and Arlington Ave:
Typically the construction period will extend from mid-April to late November of any given year. A Public Open House (POH) will be held in advance of each phase of construction to provide additional details and seek public feedback. The date for each POH will be advertised in daily and local newspapers. The Public Open House for the 2009 Construction for Somerset to Arlington has been scheduled for December 3, 2008 between 5 and 8 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion (330 Kent St., 2nd Floor). This design assignment is part of a larger effort that will see the reconstruction of Bank Street from Wellington Street to the Rideau Canal completed in the coming years. The City has retained the services of the IBI Group to complete this assignment. The Project Manager is Mr. David Hatton while Mr. Justin Date is the Project Coordinator. If you have any questions regarding the above or if you wish to provide comment please contact either:
