Alta Vista Drive Area Traffic Management (ATM) Study
Alta Vista Drive Area Traffic Management Study Document
The Alta Vista Drive Area Traffic Management (ATM) Study was initiated in the fall of 2008 by the City’s Area Traffic Management Unit to address traffic issues reported by the community.
The study area for the AltaVista Drive ATM Study was limited to Alta Vista Drive between Bank Street and Smyth Road.
The study was guided by a Public Working Group comprised of seven individuals providing a good representation across the community with representatives from the Alta Vista Drive Residents' Association and the Charles Hulse Public Elementary School.
The study followed the City of Ottawa's ATM Guidelines which have been approved by City Council. The guidelines are available elsewhere on the City's web site.
None of the measures listed under the City's ATM program have the potential to be considered as being any higher than Schedule "A" of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Process. As such, all measures under the City's ATM program are considered to have minimal environmental impacts.
The first Public Open House (POH) was held on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at the Rideau Park United Church. Display boards used at the POH is available for viewing or downloading here. The boards cover the City's Area Traffic Management Process; traffic issues on Alta Vista Drive from Bank Street to Smyth Road; results of the recently completed data collection exercise; and potential measures that would be appropriate for consideration on Alta Vista Drive.
The second POH was held in the spring of 2009. The public was presented with potential solutions to address the identified issues. The display boards are provided on this site (see left navigation menu).
Following the second POH, a recommended plan was carried forward by the study team based on comments received from POH events and through technical review. This plan was approved as part of a Roadway Modification Approval (RMA) report under delegated authority. The measures will be implemented over time as funding becomes available.
