About Doors Open Ottawa
Ottawa is the second city in North America to launch this major free event based on a successful European program to promote heritage, architecture and design.
Look inside exciting buildings like embassies, places of worship, museums, gardens, artist’s studios or science labs.
Doors Open has recorded nearly 560,000 visits since 2002.
Doors Open 2011
Thanks to everyone who participated in Doors Open Ottawa 2011. The event took place June 4 and 5 and saw nearly 60,000 people visit 111 of Ottawa’s most exciting buildings.
We couldn’t have done it without 110 dedicated volunteers who contributed 825 hours of their time. We would also like to thank our event sponsors for their continued support: the Ottawa Citizen, Bell Media, Heritage Ottawa, Speedy Messenger Service, Le Droit, Bridgehead and Cartier Place Hotel.

The City of Ottawa hosts Doors Open with the help of committed volunteers, the collaboration of Heritage Ottawa, Heritage Canada and the Ottawa Regional Society of Architects and the Ontario Heritage Trust. Partnerships between the City of Ottawa, building owners, neighbourhoods, and the corporate community all contribute to this unique event.
