Outdoor Rinks

Rink Locations

Outdoor Rinks Closed

The City of Ottawa has closed most of its outdoor skating rinks due to the fluctuations in temperature that make ice skating conditions unsafe and are detrimental to the maintenance of surfaces. The City and the numerous volunteers responsible for the maintenance of the skating surfaces urge residents to avoid using the outdoor rinks.

Rink of Dreams

The Rink of Dreams is temporarily closed. Check ottawa.ca/rinkofdreams for daily updates.

Volunteering at Outdoor Rinks

The City’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services are recruiting committed groups or individuals that are interested in operating a neighborhood outdoor rink for this season. Community involvement helps ensure that Ottawa’s outdoor rinks are available free of cost to everyone from toddlers to seniors in neighbourhoods across the city.

The Community Operated Outdoor Rink Program offers Ottawa community groups the opportunity to independently operate their neighbourhood outdoor rink either through grant funding by the City of Ottawa and/ or as a non-funded rink with material and equipment support.

The outdoor rink program is an excellent opportunity for your group to take an active role in a major community program.

Ways to get involved:

  • Become an outdoor rink operator with the City
  • Assist with the maintenance of the ice surfaces
  • Volunteer a few hours a week to supervise the rinks and field house
  • Help to run weekly children's programs
  • Help organize a winter carnival at your rink
