Notice of Proposed Official Plan Amendment
The City has initiated an Official Plan Amendment for lands within Barrhaven South (see map insert) to implement, in part, the proposed Community Design Plan (CDP) for the Barrhaven South area. The CDP will be the new City Council approved land use planning document that will guide the development of Barrhaven South as a compact, liveable, and transit-supportive community.
The proposed Official Plan Amendment, if approved, would:
- Revise schedule “B” to implement the results of the CDP, including the rationalizing of the urban boundary, and by replacing the “Developing Community”, “Town Centre” and “Mixed Use” designations with “General Urban”; and to reflect the recommendations of the Urban Natural Area Environmental Assessment Study, by changing a portion of the “Major Open Space” designation to “Urban Natural Features”
- Revise schedule “A” to reflect the modifications being made to schedule “B”
- Revise schedules “C”, “D” and “E” and Annex 1 (cycling, transit and roads) in the Official Plan to reflect the addition of/revision to major cycling, transit and road corridors resulting from the CDP and the Environmental Assessments that were completed in 2006

The Barrhaven South Community Design Plan together with the proposed Official Plan Amendment are scheduled to go to the Planning and Environment Committee on June 13, 2006, which will constitute the public meeting under the Planning Act.
