Penelope Kokkinos
Penelope Kokkinos is a ceramic artist, curator, writer, and instructor at the Nepean Visual Arts Centre, and the Ottawa School of Art. Kokkinos’ work has been exhibited internationally and a number of her essays and reviews have been published in art and craft periodicals and anthologies. She is a founding member of Clayworks Co-op Pottery Studio in Ottawa. She has acquired an MFA from Concordia University and a BFA from the University of Ottawa, and has been awarded numerous grants and scholarships.

Laura Logan

Education and Experience:
BA, Fine Art and Art History, University of Toronto; Diploma, Art and Art History, Sheridan College; Desktop Publishing Certificate, Algonquin College; Public Relations, Algonquin College. Worked for many years as a graphic designer before moving into a communications and marketing profession. Laura continues to work as a designer and communications specialist in addition to teaching children’s art classes and doing her own artwork.

Donna Lynd

Education and Experience:
Donna has been painting in her current style for six years now after working for many years in watercolors, and textiles. Donna has trained in Ottawa and Montreal including Westmount School of Art, The Saidie Bronfman Centre and Ecole Renaissance.
Highlights:
- stage of Donna’s artistic career began in Paris when her and her husband lived there for two years. She spent many hours studying work at museums and exhibitions. Donna taught herself to paint from the forms of Mondigliani and using Van Gogh’s palette. Donna has exhibited her work in Montreal, Picton, Ottawa (including league shows), the Rideau Valley Art Festival, the Cumberland Gallery and several Ottawa restaurants.

Yvette enjoys Mixed Media for its experimental qualities which allows for freedom of expression. Some of the topics covered in class: creating textures, image transfers, stamping, monoprinting, collage etc.

- Member of Ottawa Mixed Media Artists (OMMA) since its inception. Volunteering on the Executive of OMMA.

Education and Experience:
Karl Schutt, born in Pembroke and trained in the Fine Arts at the Universities of Manitoba and in Art History at the University of British Columbia, retired in January 1999 from a 29-year career as a secondary school art instructor. Over the years he has studied the jewellery arts here and abroad. In the 80's he completed American and British gemmological training and has been faceting precious gems since the late 1970's. Additionally, Karl works in watercolours, pastels, three-dimensional metals, and stone sculpture. Karl continues to teach adults in visual arts and jewellery arts.
Highlights:
“It is from the Renaissance artist that I find my inspiration. This inspiration has lead me to work in precious metals, in sterling silver and precious gems, cutting cabochon, faceting all kinds of transparent gem material, and in combining a variety of techniques in the creating of small objects to be worn as jewellery or looked at as sculpture.”

Kerry Stothers

Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Fine Arts, University of Calgary. Primarily a portrait painter Ms. Stothers has exhibited her work throughout Alberta, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Chelsea. In addition to teaching painting and drawing classes at the Nepean Visual Arts Centre, Ms. Stothers operates “Portraits by Kerry”, a small business accepting commissioned portraits, paintings and drawings.
She also paints wall murals for commercial and residential clients, and she does contract artwork for museum display companies and television and movie production companies. Ms. Sothers’ museum work consists primarily of painting and sculptured objects as well as a variety of faux techniques, and can be seen in museums throughout North America, including the Smithsonian Museum in Washington and the New Founder’s Hall in Charlottetown, P.E.I.

20 years experience teaching Chinese Brush Painting with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, and experience instructing watercolour to adults and children. Educational training includes STAR and Live-Event courses from Drake University, Teachers’ Training programs I, II, III for language teachers from the University of Ottawa, Art History at Normal University, Taiwan, and five years Business training at Ming Chuan Business College, Taiwan. Ms. Tolson’s work has been selected by numerous charity organizations for fund-raising purposes, including REACH and the Ottawa Civic Hospital.

Trained as a Graphic Designer and Medical Illustrator, Kerri Weller has worked extensively in both fields. A strong belief that creative talent should be balanced with technical skill provides the foundation to her teaching and art, while the effects of light and the beauty of nature spark the passion to paint. Her paintings focus on botanical watercolours, classical still life and figurative works in oil.
