The View and Release of Building Permit Records Policy allows general access to building permit records while at the same time ensuring that the access to the information respects the intent of the Copyright Act* without the necessity of formal request under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Additional costs for photocopies will apply once the file has been viewed. It should be noted that we cannot guarantee that the specific information you are seeking will be in the building permit file. Please note that all fees are non-refundable. *To obtain copies of drawings, detailed plans and/or specifications, the applicant must provide the City with the written consent of the copyright holder. The plans submitted in support of a building permit application are the property of the designer and are not transferred to the property owner upon purchase.
