Post–Secondary Students

Young healthy people traditionally have not worried about illnesses like influenza. However, historically influenza pandemics have been particularly hard on this age group. Even the current human cases of avian flu are following this pattern.

Measures that are recommended to prevent the spread of colds and influenza do not describe the way students live and work:

  • Social distancing
  • Plenty of rest
  • Nutritious food and;
  • Flu shot

During an influenza pandemic, we will be relying primarily on community support such as family, neighbours and volunteers and the benefits you get through full-time employment. Again, this is something that students don’t necessarily have.

The black spot. Given the chance, it can take you down.
