What is the Healthy Babies, Healthy Children Program?

This program is for expectant parents and parents of young children from birth to 6 years.

Public Health Nurses and Family Visitors can support you as you learn about:

  • Pregnancy and childbirth
  • Preparing for your baby
  • Resources in your community
  • Taking care of yourself during pregnancy and after your baby is born
  • What to expect as your child grows and develops
  • How to keep your child safe
  • Feeding your child

A Public Health Nurse will call you after you are home from the hospital to answer any questions you may have. She will also arrange a time to visit you and your baby at home.

A Public Health Nurse or a Family Visitor may continue to visit you to:

  • Support you when your baby comes home
  • Help you connect with community resources
  • Provide ongoing guidance on parenting, feeding and caring for your child
