Tips for Carpoolers
|
According to the 1996 census, 8.8% of workers in Ottawa-Gatineau were carpool passengers. |
Once you've had a chance to get together with a few people who live or work near you, it's time to form your carpool. Start by setting up a meeting, conference call or group e-mail to discuss arrangements such as the following:
- Who will drive
- How costs will be shared
- Pick-up and drop-off times and locations
- How long to wait if someone is late
- What to do if someone is sick
It's also a good idea to set some basic ground rules such as:
- If eating, drinking or smoking will be allowed
- If the radio will be played, and what type of music or stations
- If side trips and stops are allowed
- Seating arrangements
- Expected car maintenance and cleanliness
