Inline Skating

Roller skates, the precursor to inline skates, were invented around 1770, but not used for transportation until 1980.
With so many mixed-use pathways leading to virtually every corner of the city, inline skating can be an effective and exhilarating way to get around. Keeping active while commuting, running errands or for other trips is good for your body, your health and even your neighbourhood.

Inline skating is very efficient for those looking for an aerobic workout without the impact of running, and who need to travel more than a few kilometres. Skating can get you there almost as fast as cycling, but it burns more calories and strengthens your leg muscles better than riding a bike. And like walking and cycling, skating is always free!
