Carp River Restoration Plan Third-Party Review
The City of Ottawa initiated a third-party review of the Carp River Restoration Plan in response to concerns raised following an audit of the project. The environmental assessment (EA) of the Carp River, Poole Creek and Feedmill Creek Restoration Project was completed in 2006.
This project involves rehabilitation of the Carp River (Hazeldean Road to Richardson Side Road) and development of a small amount of land within the floodplain. In 2007, an error in the computer model was discovered and subsequent adjustments were made to the plan. Council directed staff to engage a third-party engineering firm to independently review the model and the overall project, and report on their findings prior to the City implementing the restoration project.
The third-party review of the Carp River Restoration Plan and its associated projects has been completed by Greenland International Consulting Inc., the engineering firm hired by the City to conduct the review.

Kanata West Environmental Assessments
The Minister of Environment ordered the three Class Environmental Assessment (EA) documents, which contain the seven challenged EA projects, be revised as needed and Notices of Completion be re-issued for these projects upon completion of the Third Party Review. The documents have been revised and the requirements of the Ministry of the Environment have been met to allow the Notices of Completion to be re-issued for the seven challenged projects. The 30-day public review period commenced on July 30, 2010 and provides the opportunity to file Part II Order requests (requests for a bump-up to an individual environmental assessment) for these seven projects. If further Part II Order requests are filed, the Minister of the Environment will need to make a decision on the requests.
The Notices of Completion contain a list of the client service centres and public library locations where a complete copy of all the supporting material and documentation can be found.
