Talkin' Trash

What is Talkin' Trash?

This nine-minute video was produced by the City of Ottawa for local elementary schools, specifically for Grades 4 to 8. Talkin' Trash looks behind the scenes at Ottawa's garbage situation. The video encourages students to RETHINK GARBAGE, from how much they create to the choices they make each day around its disposal. The video demonstrates why sending unwanted "stuff" to the landfill should always be a last resort.

What is the storyline?

Sarah, host of a fact-finding after-school show, and her cameraman, Luke, uncover the facts on Ottawa's garbage scene. Visits to the Trail Road Landfill site, and to Ottawa's main recycling facility demonstrate that throwing things in the trash shouldn't always mean out of sight, out of mind. Each one of us has a responsibility for our garbage.
