Little Italy

Preston Street, or the Corso Italia, is the site of Ottawa’s historic Italian neighbourhood marked by a notable landmark archway at its southern entrance. Often serving as a celebration parade route and meeting place for Ottawa’s local Italian community.

Restaurants and their patios line Preston Street

Little Italy is particularly known for its cuisine: gelato, exquisite pastries and wedding cakes, fresh pasta, espresso, and many other treats. You will find something here in one of the many fine restaurants and pubs to tempt you whether you are looking for a sun-lit drink on a patio or a full, multi-course evening meal by candlelight.

As well as great food and drink, you will find shopping and history on Preston Street. There are shops for cutlery, wine ware, and hardware, all of which make up the friendly and inviting character of the neighbourhood. The mural of Italian life in Ottawa is definitely worth a look as you are walking along Preston Street.

Preston Street is also the site for a number of festivals and events, such as Italian Week and the La Vendemmia celebration of Italian wine and food.
